Dodger Fans Reveal Satisfaction With Offseason in First Poll of Spring Training

[ad_1]

It isn’t exactly breaking news that the Dodgers had a successful offseason. The front office committed more than $1.2 billion to free agents since the end of last season out of $2.2 billion total.

“You’ve got essentially the best player on the planet,” manager Dave Roberts told reporters in spring training camp Friday, referring to two-way star Shohei Ohtani. “A big huge acquisition, a huge signing, getting (pitcher) Yoshinobu (Yamamoto).”

Fans have noticed.

In Dodgers Nation’s first fan poll of 2024, the sentiment all pointed in one direction. The Dodgers have a good team on paper in every aspect of the game:

Ohtani won’t even join the starting rotation until 2025 at the soonest, but the rotation earned the highest approval rating among fans — 91.4 percent.

Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, Walker Buehler, Bobby Miller, James Paxton, Emmet Sheehan and Clayton Kershaw all come with their share of question marks, particularly around their health. For now, without any having thrown a pitch in a game, they’re all coming up aces.

Bullpens are notorious for their tortured relationship with fans. Individual mistakes are always magnified, especially in close games. Yet even their approval rating (77.1%) is relatively high.

The Dodgers’ group of position players is all but set, with only an injury opening a door for a “battle” of any sort in camp. Their 90.1% rating comes with a strong knowledge of exactly who will comprise the group.

The fans even extended their shine to the Dodgers’ new Guggenheim jersey patches:

We’ll check in with Dodger fans weekly throughout the 2024 season to see if – and how – those sentiments change.
