Pochettino gives immediate injury update on versatile defender

It was a 0-0 draw for Chelsea at home yesterday, but some of the big news of the night came before kick off.

Levi Colwill was in the initial teamsheet released an hour before kick off, but soon after it was amended to show Alfie Gilchrist in the team after Colwill limped out of the warm up.

The good news is that we’ve had a positive update from Mauricio Pochettino after the game about the defender:

“We don’t believe it’s too bad. A smaller issue. He didn’t feel comfortable. We knew before we might not start with him but then he was ready to play, but then he felt something.”

That’s a huge relief. We were very worried when we saw Colwill rushing down the tunnel, with his knee already in a brace.

Seeing him on the bench eased the tension a little, and this update has made us much happier.

With Ben Chilwell fit now, and rested tonight, we can slot him back in against Liverpool in midweek, meaning Colwill will have at least a week to recover, should he need it.
