Chilean hooker Diego Escobar signs with Racing 92

The Chilean hooker Diego Escobar will sign a three-year contract with Racing 92, a club that competes in the Top 14, the highest division of French rugby. He who trained at COBS will join the Parisian club in July, for the 2024/25 season. Until then he will remain in Selknam.

The 23-year-old player impressed with his performance for the Cóndores, especially in the World Cup debut against Japan, a match for which he earned several praise from the international press. His good performances put him on the radar of several European clubs and at the beginning of January it was reported that the hooker was on trial at Racing 92.

Escobar left a good impression on the Parisians’ technical staff, led by Englishman Stuart Lancaster, and will sign a contract with the club until the 2027/28 season. In Racing 92, the Chilean will share the dressing room with world rugby stars such as Gael Fickou, Josua Tuisova, Henry Arundell and the captain of the Springboks and two-time world champion, Siya Kolisi, among others. Furthermore, his arrival will coincide with that of England flyhalf Owen Farrell.
