Forest Green Rovers have surprised fans as appoint experienced 59 year old EFL manager Steve Cotterill to try and avoid relegation.
He comes in to replace Troy Deeney who was given the sack last week after just six games in charge of the League Two‘s bottom side.
Rovers sit 24th with 19 points from 27 games played, and are 6 points froms afety while 23rd place Sutton are 5 points from safety, both Forest Green and Sutton have a game in hand over 22nd place Colchester.
Cotterill last took charge of Shrewsbury Town between 2020 and 2023, where his side earned a 12th-placed finish last season before controversially being axed.

Forest Green Rovers are delighted to announce that Steve Cotterill has been appointed as the club’s new manager.
West Country born and bred, Cotterill met his staff and players at Stanley Park this morning and has got to work straight away.
Having managed the likes of Burnley, Nottingham Forest and Bristol City, Cotterill has won five promotions during his managerial career and is also no stranger to pulling teams away from relegation danger.
His last role was at Shrewsbury Town between 2020 and 2023, achieving an impressive 12th-placed finish in League One last season, the club’s second-highest finish in 34 years
Club Chairman, Dale Vince, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Steve to FGR. His record speaks for itself with over 25 years of experience in all leagues of the EFL, spanning nearly 900 games.
