Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy will be traveling with the team to South Korea for the Seoul Series. Despite dealing with a virus that caused him to lose 10 pounds, Muncy will be joining the team on their Korea trip, via SportsNet LA’s David Vassegh.
This illness has kept Muncy out of the team’s Cactus League lineup since the Dodgers took on the Texas Rangers last Saturday. Muncy has been away from the team to recover during this time.
It’s been a rough Spring Training for Muncy, who dealt with this illness on top of previously dealing with a hand issue after he was taken out of a Cactus League game early when he was struck by a pitch. Though the x-rays came back negative and Muncy returned, he’s certainly faced a couple obstacles as he prepares for the 2024 season.
In Korea, the Dodgers will have four total games during their trip, with two exhibition games and two regular season games against the San Diego Padres on March 20 and March 21.
Since Muncy has been out since Saturday, he hasn’t gotten much time to play at third base with Mookie Betts now at shortstop after Betts and Gavin Lux swapped spots in the infield. With Betts now aiding Muncy on the left side of the defense, hopefully this trip will give the two players time to work on their chemistry with Betts in a new spot.
